who we are
Since 2007, based in Auckland, New Zealand. As a boutique construction company, it has completed more than 500 designs, providing high-quality services to a large number of customers. We pride ourselves in providing bespoke services to clients locally as well as internationally.
We specialise in architecture, interior design and project management of residential and commercial projects. We have vast experiences in utilising high-quality finishes as well as details that are sensitive to context and brief.
Our goal is to create well-resolved, light-filled, tactile and thought-provoking buildings – both single houses and multi-residential projects – for people to live work & play in. Living in a HC Design-designed building is the perfect antidote to the stresses of today’s complex & challenging world.

    Our role as project managers is to ensure the success of your development for inception to completion, delivering a quality product, on time and budget – whether it is a new build, remediation, refurbishment or alteration project.

    • Zhong Ming Huang (Paul)

      Director

      With over 18 years of design experience, Paul Huang is one of the most influential architecture in New Zealand. He has a master’s degree in architectural design from the University of Auckland. HC Design led by him is active in the New Zealand building and development industry.Read more

      Paul has worked on more than hundreds commercial, residential, and public sector projects of various scales and complexity ranging from luxury housing, boutique hotels, high-end apartments, offices, well-known retirement village, healthcare centres, etc.He is also highly experienced in subdivision and land development project feasibility, design, and execution throughout New Zealand.

      His natural and strong communication skills, paired with his effective team management experience, make him a fundamental and treasured team member. His extensive industry knowledge and experience in the design and construction process is second-to-none, and his expert skills in development strategy and project management make him an invaluable source of information and inspiration on any architectural project.

      Paul’s approach each job as a unique design opportunity. His design pursues creativity and aura, and is good at fusing Eastern and Western cultures; hence every of his works exhibits site-specific response and one that defies preconceived notions.

    • David John Macpherson

      Planner

      David is a planner with a considerable range and depth of planning experience gained over more than 40 years, in positions held in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. He has spent considerable periods of time as a policy planner and also in physical planning and urban design. In recent years he has focussed on statutory planning.
